PRIME: Russia’s Domodedovo airport may quadruple investments in 2012

The 2012 investments of Moscow’s Domodedovo Airport may amount to 18.6 billion rubles, almost half of the revenue anticipated for this year and four times greater than 2011 investments, Vedomosti business daily quoted a Goldman Sachs presentation prepared for the airport’s potential buyers on Thursday.

The bulk of the investments, or 13.2 billion rubles, 4.6 times more than in 2011, will be allocated to build T1 and T2 terminals, the presentation said.

The company may afford a bigger investment program as it spent only 3.8 billion rubles in 2011 out of the 7.3 billion rubles it intended to invest.

In 2012, the airport plans to receive 41.2 billion rubles worth of revenue and 18.4 billion rubles worth of Earnings Before Interest, Tax, Depreciation and Amortization.

It would be difficult for the airport to afford such investments and it is likely that Domodedovo will borrow funds, Vedomosti quoted investment company Metropol analyst Andrei Rozhkov as saying.

The airport raised a 165 million euro loan at Euribor rate + 2.8% at the beginning of the year, the presentation also said.

In May 2011, Domodedovo indefinitely delayed an initial public offering (IPO) due to unfavorable market conditions. The value of the airport was estimated at between $3.5 billion and $7.5 at that time.
